Rahoui: Said responds to the explosion of the Tunisian street without fear of chaos
Tunisian MP Mongi Rahoui said on Thursday that the decisions taken by President Kais Saied on 25 July were a response to the pulse of the Tunisian street.
Rahoui, who was a guest on Sky News Arabia’s “Confrontation” program, expressed support for Saied’s measures, which were implemented under Article 80 of the constitution, which froze parliament and exempted the government.
The Tunisian MP stated that there is no fear of a destabilizing situation in the country, given the measures that have been taken.
Rahoui said that he does not fear a destabilizing situation in Tunisia because, according to him, Ennahdha was excluded in a democratic and peaceful manner.
Rahoui said that the fears of the chaos are misplaced, and this is reassuring because of public acceptance of President Saied’s decisions.
There was a state of great anticipation for the actions to be taken in Tunisia, while people aspired for change.
Rahoui said that the Ennahdha’s president, Rached Ghannouchi, was disappointed by Saied’s decisions and was not allowed to enter parliament.
The Tunisian MP explained that Ghannouchi had invited his supporters to join him, but his call did not resonate.
He noted that the Ennahdha Brothers continued to call on their supporters and allies on July 26, and went so far as to dump funds in an effort to gain support.
Rahoui denied what the Ennahdha brothers were saying about a “coup” against them, because the reality is that they were ousted peacefully and by civilians, because they still enjoy freedom.
