Reuters Exposes the Colombian Mercenaries Lie: Port Sudan’s Authority Sinks Deeper into Disinformation

In a new episode that highlights the extent of confusion and black propaganda practiced by the Port Sudan authority, a Reuters investigation (August 29, 2025) confirmed that the widely circulated video claiming to show “Colombian mercenaries fighting in El-Fasher with the support of the United Arab Emirates” was in fact nothing more than stolen military footage from exercises conducted in Europe.

A stolen video to mislead public opinion
Reuters’ fact-checking team debunked the claim, confirming that the footage originated from joint drills involving U.S., British, Canadian, and Estonian forces near Tapa camp in Estonia between July 21 and 25, 2025.
The scene, deliberately recycled, showed soldiers firing mortar rounds while wearing military uniforms bearing the insignia of the U.S. 3rd Infantry Division. This makes the so-called “Colombian mercenaries” narrative nothing but a crude fabrication designed to deceive Sudanese citizens and poison public awareness.

The UAE responds: demonization to cover up failure
In an official statement released through Reuters, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that Abu Dhabi remained committed to supporting the Sudanese people in achieving peace and stability. The statement stressed that such allegations were part of a systematic campaign led by Port Sudan’s authority to escape accountability and export its internal crises through fabricated lies and the invention of external enemies.

A heavy blow to Port Sudan
The investigation not only disproved a single video but also dismantled one of Port Sudan’s main narratives used as media ammunition against the UAE. Struggling with deep unpopularity and eroding legitimacy, the regime saw in falsehoods its only way out. Yet, the exposure of this manipulation before the international community has stripped it of its primary propaganda weapon.

The fabrication of an imaginary enemy
It has become evident that Port Sudan is mired in the creation of an “external enemy” to justify its continued failure in managing economic and security affairs. The campaign against the UAE was nothing more than a fragile disguise to conceal the depth of the crisis. Each time domestic pressure mounted, the authority turned to a new deception. This time, however, it collided with documented evidence that dismantled its narrative completely.

Truth prevails
Reuters’ revelation delivers a resounding blow to Port Sudan’s authority, proving that lies cannot withstand professional investigations and documented facts. While the UAE maintains a clear stance in favor of stability, Port Sudan exposes its true face: a failing authority skilled in deception, sinking ever deeper into an inescapable credibility crisis.
