Russia affirmed its support to Jordan’s security and stability


On Monday, Russia affirmed its support to Jordan’s security and stability, emphasizing the importance of the bilateral ties with King Abdullah II. Indeed, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov stated in remarks to the press, that Moscow has relations of friendship with Amman.

Jordan’s Petra news agency reported that Bogdanov wished that Jordan would always has security and stability and that it would reach social and economic development.

Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi declared on Sunday that authorities revealed a conspiracy target the kingdom’s stability. He also said that the half-brother and former heir of Jordan’s King Abdullah, Prince Hamza, discussed with foreign parties a conspiracy to undermine the country.

He added: Initial investigations showed these activities and movements had reached a stage that directly affected the security and stability of the country, but his majesty decided it was best to talk directly to Prince Hamza, to deal with it within the family.

Safadi also stated that the authorities detained between 14 and 16 people that have link to the plot, adding that there are many efforts taken to resolve the crisis inside the royal family, however; the Prince Hamza didn’t offer help for that.

Moreover, the state news agency declared on Saturday that Bassem Awadallah, a US-educated long-time friend of the king who later became minister of finance, and royal family member Sharif Hassan Ben Zaid had also been arrested.
