Saudi Arabia executes man for planning attack under direction of ISIS
Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry said Monday it executed an ISIS member convicted of attempting to target civilian gatherings through a suicide mission under the direction of ISIS, the official Saudi Press Agency reported.
Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry said it executed Mohammed Abdullah Ahmed al-Saddam, a Yemeni national, in Riyadh.
It said that al-Saddam “targeted civilian gatherings at a public facility under the guidance of the terrorist ISIL organization, using a suicide bomber who used an explosives vest and photographed the targeted site”.
The man had also sworn allegiance to ISIS and adopted their ideas, the Kingdom’s interior ministry added. Security forces arrested him, charged him and referred him to the court that convicted him.
According to the Saudi Interior Ministry, the execution followed a royal order to enforce what was legally decided, and the death sentence was upheld by the Criminal Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court.
