Security guard killed in Qatar Embassy in Paris – Details
The Paris prosecutor’s office said Monday that an investigation has been opened into the killing of a guard at the Qatari embassy in Paris, where the perpetrator was arrested.
The Paris prosecutor’s office said Monday: “One person was killed at the Embassy of Qatar in Paris, and another person was arrested as part of the investigation. The Office of the Prosecutor said: “I can confirm that an investigation has been opened today into the murder charge”, it said, adding “it was not clear whether a weapon had been used”.
“The circumstances of the death of the Qatari embassy guard have not yet been determined with precision”, the newspaper said.
Quoting French police sources, “Le Parisien” said: “One person was killed inside the embassy, confirming the arrest of a person on suspicion of murdering the guard and the start of a criminal investigation following the killing, saying it was unclear whether a weapon had been used in the attack”.
A police source told Reuters news agency: “The incident that took place at around 6:30 a.m. on Monday does not appear to be related to terrorism”.
“Le Parisien” said the suspect, 38, entered the embassy and beat the guard to death. The assailant is known to have a history of mental illness and mental health problems, the newspaper said. The Qatari embassy did not comment on the incident, which occurred at its headquarters in the eighth district of Paris.
