Tareq Al-Suwaidan – Why did he back away from his statements about the revolutions?
In an attempt to back away from controversial statements asserting that he does not support the revolutions, Kuwaiti Muslim Brotherhood preacher Tareq al-Suwaidan claimed he was taken out of context.
Like the Brotherhood’s habit of talking about the thing and its antithesis, Al-Suwaidan, described as the preacher of evil, said in a television interview: “I am still with the Arab revolutions and with the Arab people”.
Before he could repeat some of his earlier talk, trying to touch the stick from the middle: “But we, in short, are wise people. We know that wars and revolutions are full of calamities and problems that we do not wish for, not for a nation, not for a people, not for a state”.
Over the past few days, the Kuwaiti preacher, who is considered one of the most prominent faces of the Muslim Brotherhood, has sparked controversy on social media sites, following statements in which he said he was not in favor of the revolutions.
Al-Suwaidan said in an interview with Oman’s Hala FM radio: “With the waves of the Arab Spring and the hustle and bustle of its existence, many of our opinions have not been clearly heard”.
I say it clearly, I am not in favor of revolutions. I believe that revolutions lead to destruction, and misfortune for people, he said. After any revolution, people on average go through 13 years of instability, and this is the average for some more countries and some less countries.
He added: “Some people used to imagine that I support revolutions, No, we are not with revolutions. Now these revolutions happened and I had no role in creating it, and I had no role in supporting them financially or with weapons.. I’ve never been into this…”.
Al-Suwaidan’s statements have stirred a lot of controversy on social media platforms, as it reflect a repudiation of the demolition factors claimed by the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood, in addition to contradicting previous statements made by Al-Suwaidan himself.
