The dictatorial practices of the Justice and Development Party

Writing in the Turkish newspaper Cumhuriyet, Turkish writer Orsan Ki-Uymann referred to the dictatorial practices of the Justice and Development Party, which he described as wanting to destroy the democratic, secular, and social rule of law and establish a theocratic monarchy in its place, which is also an unfortunate fascism.

Sadism meant enjoying someone else’s suffering”, he said. This is a mental illness. This is the case for unscrupulous people. Fascism was a dictatorship in which power was concentrated with one hand. There could be different expansions of fascism like racial fascism and religious fascism.

Uymann described racism fascism as hate people who are not racist and religious fascism as hate people who are not religious. He said that both turn people like them into objects of hatred, turn them into enemies and create a climate of fear for them.

He also said that fascism was fueled by hatred. Fascism also helps by torturing and harming those it hates. Fascism includes sadism.

The author spoke about the imprisonment of former Democracy and Progress Party co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Fijn Yüksekdağ, dozens of Democracy and Progress Party deputies and mayors, the closure of hundreds of Democracy and Progress Party premises, the banning of provincial and district directors and city councilors for five years, and the imprisonment of businessman Osman Kavala for four years.

He spoke about retired commanders and soldiers – Javek Baer, Jitain Dogan, Hiki Kellenic, Jevat Tamil Özkanak, Errol Özkassanak, Faouzi Turkri, Wildrem Turker, Ilhan Kilic, Aidan Errol, Kennan Deniz, Ahitris Corral and Corral 28. He said that they had been jailed for four months for “conspiracy”.

Metin Gorkan, one of the founders of the Party for Democracy and Progress, was arrested in the past weeks, and an indictment has been prepared against dozens of retired leaders and soldiers who have expressed their views on the Montreux Convention and anti-secularism movements by prosecutors who have demanded prison sentences for them.

Many legal experts in Turkey and the European Court of Human Rights have revealed that many of these arrests and practices are contrary to constitution and law. Whether or not sharing the political opinions and actions of detainees is a separate issue, it is a separate matter whether they are detained in accordance with the law and the constitution or emergency provisions.

The writer stated that as long as such discrimination cannot be made, Turkey cannot be a democratic state of law and cannot get rid of sadistic fascism.

Orsan Ki-Uymann asserted that the torture of these people made them suffer in prisons; separating them from their families, children, and loved ones; leave their children orphaned; having them face deadly health problems in harsh prison conditions is not something that those with justice, conscience and mercy can do.

He also stressed that throwing people in prison in order to ensure the continuation of the rule of the Justice and Development Party, and trying to maintain the government of this party through methods of repression, are contrary to justice, conscience and mercy, as well as courage, because the brave person competes with his opponents on an equal footing. The main principle of dueling is equal competition. The so-called victories that have been achieved by throwing people into prisons and silencing, censorship, intimidation and oppression are not victories.

The writer stressed that honorable, truthful and brave people know how to compete with their opponents on an equal footing, and they are confident, they fight like lions, not like sneaky jackals and hyenas, and they accept defeat if necessary. Cowards and cunning people try to eliminate their rivals by exploiting and misusing the opportunities that the state gives them for their own interests, and they do not compete with them in an equal and free environment.

“People who don’t trust the power of their cause, ideology, ideology, rhetoric and actions are trying to maintain their power with brute force”, said Orsan Ki-Uymann. Instead of responding to thought with thought, writing with writing, speaking with speech, and working, they respond to everything with brute force; they also use the judiciary, the public prosecution, the police, the army and intelligence officers to serve such cowardice and cunning. He said: An honest and honorable fight requires first being moral and virtuous.
