The Houthi militia blackmails Yemenis to finance its terrorism

In the latest evidence of the criminality of the Iran-backed Houthi group, the militia has distributed envelopes to residents of Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, bartering them for support in exchange for receiving their share of household gas cylinders.

Yemen Shabab Net website quoted local residents as saying: “The Houthi militia distributed envelopes for donating to the fighting fronts to the residents of Sanaa, and linked their access to household gas to payment of donations, with the families of the neighborhoods tasked with distributing the conditions and household gas”.

The militia asked citizens to donate in support of what it called “Yemen’s Hurricane” and the Great Convoy to commemorate the seventh anniversary of what it calls “resistance against American aggression”, in reference to the “Decisive Storm” operation launched on March 26, 2015 to support the legitimate government.

In mid-January, the Houthi terrorist group Ansar Allah announced the execution of the “Typhoon Yemen” operation, which targeted the airports of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the oil refinery in al-Musaffah in Abu Dhabi, and a number of important and sensitive sites and facilities in the UAE.

In general, a domestic gas cylinder has become unreachable in Sanaa and areas controlled by the Houthi militia, which has sparked a severe crisis and raised the price of household gas on the black market to around 20,000 riyals, as is the case in the central Yemeni city of Ibb, Yemen Shabab Net reported.

Over the past years, the Houthi militia in Sanaa and the provinces under its control looted citizens’ money under flimsy pretexts, especially on the many sectarian occasions that created it, with the aim of forming a new wealthy class for its leaders and making large sums of money from citizens’ pockets.
