The Muslim Brotherhood attempts to harm the Egyptian state through incitement against the government

Egyptian authorities have uncovered a new attempt by the Muslim Brotherhood to question the integrity of the state and incite against official institutions under the pretext of corruption.

In an official statement on its website yesterday, the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior published details of an alleged Brotherhood leak of incidents of corruption in official and large authorities.

It said: Security monitoring recently monitored the Brotherhood’s media outlets. The group’s media outlets were promoting a telephone conversation between a person claiming to be Major General Farouk Al-Qadi and a woman named Mervat Mohammed, whom she claimed was an advisor to the Presidency of the Republic. They agreed that through his various relationships with various state officials, he would facilitate obtaining contracts to carry out a number of major projects that the State is establishing in various fields, with the aim of achieving material profit for the woman.

The Ministry stated that the National Security Agency was able to uncover the circumstances of the telephone conversation and arrest the speakers during it. The first was identified as Hanafi Abd Al-Razzaq Al-Sayid Mohammed, 61, an unemployed man residing in the governorate of Cairo, registering the danger of fraud. He was previously charged and sentenced in 22 cases of various crimes, “swindling, manslaughter, and archeological excavations”. The second was called Mirvat Muhammad Ali Ahmad Al-Badawi, 52, a law professor residing in the governorate of Alexandria. The examination and investigation resulted in the two men being notorious elements of swindling and fraud with the aim of financial gain, and the lack of precedent for their work in any State institutions or State agencies.

The ministry revealed that the accused Hanafi Abd Al-Razzaq recorded the telephone conversation to promote it among those around him, and to broadcast it to the business community, in an attempt to gain enough momentum, and to deceive others of his multiple relations with various State officials and his ability to award contracts for the execution of some major projects in the country to anyone, within the framework of his fraud and embezzlement activities.

The investigation revealed that the fugitive Abd Al-Rahman Suleiman Mohammed, 42, is a broker residing in the governorate of Alexandria. It became clear that the broker was linked to the accused Hanafi Abd Al-Razzaq, and that he obtained the phone conversation from him, as part of the latter’s attempt to convince him of the strength of his relations and the possibility of giving him opportunities to invest in the field of contracting at a later date.

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior continued: In light of the financial difficulties faced by the accused Wael Abd Al-Rahman, he decided to communicate with the fugitive Abdullah al-Sharif, and gave him the phone call in exchange for a monetary sum. He sent it to him with a promise to send other calls on the same approach, but Abdullah al-Sharif did not give him the agreed amount.

The Ministry reported that the defendants had been arrested, and the cell phone between Wael Abdel Rahman and Abdullah Al-Sharif that included conversations between them in this regard was seized; the Department confirmed that the Assistant Secretary of State for State Security was undertaking investigations.

The Muslim Brotherhood, which is classified as a terrorist organization in many countries, continuously tries to harm the Egyptian state through incitement against the government and the military. It carries out its activities using the group’s media and social media platforms.
