The return of Syria to the Arab fold and the rapprochement with Turkey is disrupting the calculations of the Muslim Brotherhood
The confusion and turmoil that the Brotherhood terrorist group is experiencing, after Syria returned to the Arab League, coinciding with continued efforts to normalize relations between Ankara and Damascus, which has exacerbated the crises experienced by the Brotherhood, especially its Syrian branch, currently led by Comptroller General Amer Al-Bousalameh.
Crises in the region
Reports have revealed that there are no new indications to suggest that the Muslim Brotherhood or its Syrian protégé has a plan or a clear vision to deal with Syria’s return to the Arab League, or the Turkish-Syrian rapprochement. However, the Brotherhood is seeking understandings with the Turkish regime, which has shown that it does not abide by any of the agreements while pursuing reconciliation with Arab countries such as Syria and Egypt.
The Muslim Brotherhood, along with its various branches, expressed its rejection of Syria’s return to occupy its seats in the Arab League. It called on the League to reconsider its decision, taken last May, to return Damascus to attend the meetings of the Arab League Council and all organizations and agencies affiliated with it.
The Brotherhood’s Worst Period
The terrorist Muslim Brotherhood is going through its worst period ever, as a result of major crises in the region, between stalking and exposing facts and the major threats it represents in the region, says Dr. Aguila Dabishi, head of the French Center for Political and International Studies.
Many internal crises within the Brotherhood have caused cracks and defections and have retreated from the spotlight, she said, adding that internal crises within the Brotherhood reflect its dwindling social capital, with the erosion of elite leadership circles, continued departures of members, and the rupture of its hands from the Brotherhood’s soil. Finding pathways out of the crisis has become nearly impossible.
She explained that all countries no longer recognize the existence of the Brotherhood, especially in light of the change in the political map that is taking place in the region as a whole, which made the Brotherhood a very dangerous predicament.
