The situation is worsening in Sudan… What is happening there?

Fighting continues in the Sudanese capital Khartoum between the army and rapid support after the three-day truce ended, with the south of the country and El Geneina witnessing heavy violence over the past few days, as warned by many international organizations that the fighting between the army and rapid support caused hundreds of deaths and injuries in the state since the outbreak of the war.

Catastrophic situation

According to statistics, 250 people have been killed and 1,000 others injured. The Ministry implemented measures including activating emergency procedures in Al-Abiad, Al-Daman, and military hospitals. The United Nations, African Union, and IGad Organization have been warned that the conflict has now taken on an ethnic dimension, and there is a possibility of “crimes against humanity” occurring in Darfur.

“15,000 Sudanese, including nearly 900 wounded, have fled to the town of Adré in Chad, which has received over 150,000 refugees so far, under a barrage of fire from the army, rapid support forces, tribal fighters and armed civilians”, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) said.

The situation is difficult

Mubarak Al-Fadel, a Sudanese writer and political analyst, said that the situation is very difficult in Sudan, pointing out that more than half of the population of Sudan depends on humanitarian aid to survive, in a country that is sinking in destruction and violence at an “unprecedented” speed, pointing out that the humanitarian needs have reached record levels, at a time when there are no signs of an end to the conflict, which threatens a major disaster in Sudan.

The situation is worsening recently due to the increase in attacks and attacks on health facilities, which amounted to more than 46 attacks, and around the most dangerous areas, he said, stressing that Khartoum, Darfur (west) and Al-Abyad (south) are the most affected areas in terms of health and humanitarian, and the major shortage of basic services, amid fears of sliding towards a major humanitarian catastrophe, especially with the increasing number of people fleeing war inside and outside the country.
