The UAE Provides Military Equipment and Security Gear to Chad

The United Arab Emirates strengthens its collaboration with Chad by supporting its efforts in the fight against terrorism

The United Arab Emirates has provided military vehicles and security equipment to Chad, aiming to empower and enhance its capabilities in counterterrorism and border protection programs.

This initiative falls within the framework of the distinguished relations between the UAE and Chad across various domains. These relations were solidified by the signing of several bilateral agreements, including a military cooperation agreement, in June of last year during an official visit to Abu Dhabi by Mahamat Idriss Déby, the transitional president of the Republic of Chad.

Rashid Saeed Al Shamsi, the UAE Ambassador to Chad, handed over the vehicles and equipment to Brigadier General Daoud Yahya Ibrahim, the Chadian Minister of Defense, in the presence of the Chief of General Staff, the head of the strategic reserve of the Chadian army, and senior generals.

On its part, N’Djamena confirmed that it “received armored vehicles as part of military cooperation.” Chadian Defense Minister Daoud Yaya Ibrahim stated to the French news agency AFP that “these equipment items help enhance our defense forces in the fight against terrorism.”

Furthermore, Chad hosts thousands of Sudanese refugees who have fled the war in their country, and the UAE often provides support to these refugees by sending food and medical aid.
