The US denies sending a message to Iran, saying it was “in a hurry” to reach a nuclear deal, according to the Iranian minister – Details

In response to the Iranian Foreign Minister’s statements, the U.S. State Department denied yesterday evening that Washington sent messages to Iran about returning to the Iranian nuclear agreement, stressing that “Our only message to Iran is to stop killing your people, and stop sending weapons to Russia.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stated that Iran received a letter three days ago from the United States of America, demanding an urgent agreement as soon as possible, and that it wants to put political pressure on Iran to reach a settlement on the talks, and that its stated positions are different because of local usage.

He pointed to “contradictions between the words and behavior of the Americans,” stressing that “our assessment from the message of the American side is that reaching an agreement is one of their priorities, and they are in a hurry.”

The Iranian official’s statements came days after American statements ruled out reviving the nuclear agreement in the foreseeable future. U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price described the efforts to develop a roadmap to restore Iran’s faltering 2015 nuclear agreement with world powers as “not our focus now.”

“For the time being, our focus is on the outstanding valor shown by the Iranian people in their peaceful demonstrations… “Our focus now is to highlight their efforts and support them in possible ways.”

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said the nuclear negotiations with Iran are “stagnant”, adding that the agency “lacks important information due to restrictions on inspections in recent months.”

Tehran and the major powers have held talks since last year, coordinated by the European Union and with the indirect participation of the United States, aimed at reviving the 2015 nuclear deal, from which the United States withdrew in 2018.

Since the beginning of September, the talks have stalled, after the Western parties considered the Iranian response to a draft understanding proposed by the European Union to be “unconstructive.”
