Trial of Taiz Front Leaders Affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood on Murder Charges… Details

The Taiz Court of Appeals has postponed the trial of leaders from the Taiz Front, dominated by the al-Islah party, regarded as the Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, to next week. These leaders are accused of murdering the governor’s guards in the rural southern region of Taiz three years ago.

During its fourth public hearing held yesterday in the presence of the public prosecutor, the First Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeals decided to delay the case to Monday, December 9, to complete the missing documents in the case file.

The court had previously released five individuals affiliated with the Taiz Front, a decision met with objections from the representatives of the victims’ families, Osama al-Ashari and Ashraf al-Dhabhani. They demanded the suspects be brought back into custody.

Furthermore, the al-Islah party, the Muslim Brotherhood’s branch in Yemen, along with its militias in the areas under their control, continues to target journalists and activists. They exploit their dominance over the judiciary to assist many criminals in evading accountability for past crimes.
