Tunisia: The adoption of the new constitution writes a painful end for the Ennahdha Brotherhood movement
The Ennahdha Brotherhood movement in Tunisia is living in a state of collapse and disintegration after the Tunisian state approved the success of the new constitution, which confirms the failure of this Brotherhood movement in the Tunisian street, and that public opinion has become permanent to the policies of the current leadership headed by Kais Saied, who ratified the new constitution yesterday, giving the indication of starting work on it.
Ratification of the Constitution
The new constitution is the latest front in the confrontation between Said and the Brotherhood. The Tunisian president announced at the end of March the dissolution of the parliament with Ennahdha majority, eight months after it was suspended on July 25, 2021, as part of extraordinary measures. Saied accused the deputies of the dissolved parliament from the Renaissance movement of seeking to “divide the country and sow discord”.
Ennahdha’s Muslim Brotherhood leadership faces charges by the Tunisian judiciary of involvement in terrorism and corruption, notably Rached Ghannouchi, who led the movement at a time when Tunisia was experiencing economic, social and political crises.
Deathblow
Tunisian political analyst Bassel Al-Torjman says: The Muslim Brotherhood’s Ennahdha Movement is in a state of great collapse after the success of the Tunisian constitution, and the ratification of the Tunisian president, which was the final blow to the terrorist group, and all their supporters in Tunisia. The Muslim Brotherhood movement is at stake at a time when the Tunisian people reject the existence of this movement in the scene again.
The Tunisian political analyst added that the Tunisian president’s ratification of the new constitution in Tunisia was a real end for Ennahdha, and the beginning of giving a sign of the new republic that is now operating in Tunisia, and preparing for the next electoral battle.
He added that Tunisians are waiting for the urgent and immediate trials against Rached Ghannouchi, members of the Ennahdha Shura Council and those active in terrorism and corruption cases, in addition to the file of the “Association for Development”, which is accused of receiving funds from abroad, pointing out that there are demands to work on the activation of urgent trials against all those who were involved in the crimes against the Tunisian people during the past years.
A painful end for the Brotherhood
Tunisian political analyst Mondher Guefrach said: The Tunisian people wrote the last chapter politically for the Muslim Brotherhood’s Ennahdha after the success and the formal promulgation of the constitution, and all these successive successes against Ennahdha were a major political and social end for the Brotherhood.
The Tunisian political analyst added the Tunisian state, by approving its constitution, wrote the final end of the Brotherhood in Tunisia, and that the next electoral battle will be without Ennahdha and all its supporters.
