Tunisian Interior Ministry Unveils a Subversive Scheme to Spread Chaos; Details

In conjunction with the growing calls by the Tunisian opposition, led by the Muslim Brotherhood’s Ennahdha Movement, the local authorities in Kasserine governorate (western Tunisia) opened an investigation on the formation of a group with the aim of attacking public and private property and inciting chaos in popular neighborhoods.”

According to the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior, this investigation comes against the background of a complaint made by a person to the effect that an individual had previously called him and asked him to incite a group of young people living in the “Karma” neighborhood of minors to riot and block the road on the pretext that consumables are not available, in return for enabling him to raise money in case the protests continue.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the Tunisian Interior Ministry said that upon the start of the investigations by the criminal police squad of minors, it was found that the defendant was recently imprisoned in a similar case in order to “form a consensus to attack the internal security of the state, which is meant to replace the state body or make the population attack each other and cause immigration and looting in the Tunisian soil.”

The ministry said that the results of the ongoing research intersect with the findings of the in-depth security investigations regarding the planning of some parties to stir up riots and organize protest movements to employ them in the service of a special agenda, aiming to undermine security and stability in various areas of Tunisian territory. It noted recently that these parties had received intensive contacts with local and foreign parties to support them in implementing their subversive plan, according to the statement.

On October 20th, the Tunisian Ministry of the Interior arrested two people in Kasserine governorate, while distributing money to two others. The two men admitted to receiving payments to distribute it in order to riot and cause chaos by igniting tires and inflaming conditions in the city’s neighborhoods.

Two days ago, Ennahdha leader Rached Ghannouchi said he was counting on the street and the street movement to derail President Kais Saied’s path, stressing that he would resist it for the return of “democracy.”

During a speech in the northern province of Bizerte, Ghannouchi referred to the protest movements that took place in the city of Zarzis (southeast) and the neighborhood of Tadamon (one of the largest popular neighborhoods in the capital), and described them as a meeting between what is political and what is social.

Ghannouchi considered the situation in the country unsustainable because it threatens, stressing that the goal of Ennahdha is to overthrow the coup, as he put it, noting that Tunisia is in a state of confusion due to the lack of sanity and the dominance of individual impulses.

The National Salvation Front in Tunisia announced on Sunday its movement in all parts of the country, to achieve what it called “political mobilization” for the return to democracy and the protection of freedoms, considering that Tunisia is in a deep crisis and needs a visionary leadership, and that its members have launched a series of movements in all Tunisian provinces “with the aim of political mobilization for the return to democracy and for the protection of freedoms and institutions.”

On Friday, Tunisian President Kais Saied stressed the need to apply a number of texts that preserve state institutions, as many evidence and indicators show that there are those who seek to undermine the state’s existence by trespassing on its symbols.
