Tunisia’s Brotherhood Still Trying to Escalate the Situation… What Have They Done?

Tunisian President Kais Saied revealed on Monday the maneuvers of the Muslim Brotherhood and its allies within state institutions to stir up the situation in the country, emphasizing that the sacred national duty today requires continuing the fight against corruption.

During a meeting with the National Security Council at the Carthage Palace, Saied stated that “the aspirations of the Tunisian people are great, and it is necessary to work with the utmost speed to achieve them, bringing them to life with a new vision and new concepts that definitively break with the past,” including “the black decade” during which the Brotherhood ruled the country.

He added that “the lobbies that have begun to move these days, along with their extensions within several administrations and public institutions, require the sacred duty of dismantling them, holding them accountable, and holding accountable anyone who implements their criminal plans.”

Saied also referenced “what recently happened at Tunisair,” emphasizing that “this rises to the level of a crime, for which not only those who carried it out are responsible, but also those who planned it and others in several public facilities.”

Tunisair confirmed on Monday that there were disruptions to its flights on November 1, 2, 3, and 4 due to unexpected technical problems affecting several of its planes.

On the topic of rising prices and the need to hold speculators and monopolists accountable, Saied stressed that the monitoring operations that were carried out at some point were not effective, focusing mainly on small traders while turning a blind eye to large monopolists.

He added, “Moreover, wholesale markets have parallel markets that control both what is visible and what is hidden in the distribution channels.”

Saied insisted that “the food of the Tunisian people is a red line, and national responsibility requires dismantling these criminal circuits and networks and holding all involved parties accountable.”

Over the past decade, the Muslim Brotherhood systematically recruited its members to work in the administration, attempting to take control of the state’s mechanisms, which facilitated their manipulation of various social, economic, and political issues.

Additionally, a decree known as the “General Legislative Amnesty Law,” passed on February 19, 2011, enabled the Ennahdha movement of the Muslim Brotherhood to recruit about 7,000 employees, most of whom were their supporters in public institutions.
