Turkey: Erdogan’s misleading of public opinion regarding his relationship with Israel

Turkish criminal lawyer Professor Ezzat Ozganc has launched a major attack on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over his relations with Israel.

In a Twitter tweet, Ozganc called Erdogan a hypocrite about relations with Israel and called the 2010 Marmara incident mere representation, according to Turkish newspaper Zaman.

Commenting on Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s visit to Turkey, Ozganc explained that although Erdogan had given the public the impression that he was an enemy of Israel, relations with Israel had never been bad.

Ozganc added that the Marmara incident, in which 10 Turkish citizens lost their lives, was a representative event aimed at consuming the energy and sympathy of marginalized groups.
Ozganc said that even after the Marmara incident, and the attitude towards the military operations against Gaza, Burak, Erdogan’s son, continued trading with Israel.

The Turkish lawyer noted that, with the agreement signed between Turkey and Israel after the Marmara incident, the Israeli soldiers who had committed the murders had been relieved of responsibility.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog is scheduled to visit Turkey on the 10th of this month, at the personal invitation and with great interest of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has been trying for two years to repair relations with Tel Aviv, and has taken the assumption of a new President and Prime Minister in Israel as an opportunity to achieve his goal.
