UAE: Committed to supporting security and stability on the Sahel
The United Arab Emirates has affirmed its commitment to joint efforts to strengthen security and stability in the Sahel African States, as well as to promote development and humanitarian efforts
This came during the participation of the United Arab Emirates in the third ministerial meeting of the Alliance for the Sahel, which was held today virtually, and focused on reviewing guidelines for collective action aimed at achieving stability in the Sahel region and providing a framework for the development of a roadmap for the Sahel alliance.
Sheik Shakhbut bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State, said during his speech that the UAE will continue to support and encourage institutions in the Sahel region, which are the guarantors of prosperity and stability in the long term.
The stability of the Sahel region is vital for both Africa and its surrounding regions, he said, stressing the importance of facing challenges that hinder progress and prosperity, stressing the importance of empowering the youth who have the responsibility to determine the future of the region.
Sheik Shakhbut bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan said that the key to resolving some of these major issues facing the Sahel lies in strengthening the social and economic status of the countries of this region, which will improve the living standards of all people while addressing the threats of violence and extremism.
“In order to build bridges in a way that ensures regional security and stability in and around the Sahel, we must revive efforts to create a new model of cooperation and friendship geared towards a more prosperous future for the region as a whole”, he added.
Sheik Shakhbut bin Nahyan Al Nahyan concluded his intervention saying: “We must devote ourselves to developing multilateral solutions that will alleviate and resolve the ongoing crises facing that region”.
