Why Do Countries Prosecute the Muslim Brotherhood? A Study Answers

The Trends Research & Advisory Center has released a new study titled “Why Do Countries Prosecute the Muslim Brotherhood?” which provides an in-depth analysis of the reasons why countries prosecute members of the Muslim Brotherhood. The study highlights the group’s role in destabilizing and spreading discord in Arab and Islamic countries.

According to the study prepared by the Center’s Political Islam Studies Department, as reported by Al-Ittihad newspaper, the Muslim Brotherhood poses a threat to the national security of countries by seeking to destabilize and spread discord. The group does not believe in the nation-state or citizenship and aims to establish a global Islamic caliphate.

The Brotherhood uses religion to serve its political goals and recruits youth to act against their communities and countries. Additionally, the group attempts to infiltrate and take control of state institutions as a prelude to gaining power.

The study emphasizes that the countries threatened by the Muslim Brotherhood have the right to prosecute its members, stressing the need to protect social capital as well as national borders. It also offers recommendations to counter the threats posed by the Muslim Brotherhood, including raising public awareness about the dangers of the group, enhancing social and national cohesion, pursuing the group’s funding sources, and holding accountable the countries that support the group.

The Political Islam Studies Department at Trends highlighted the importance of this study in understanding the risks posed by the Muslim Brotherhood to national security. It provides compelling evidence of the group’s involvement in destabilizing and spreading discord in Arab and Islamic countries.
