Women protest outside Iranian embassy in Afghanistan over killing of Mahsa Amini


A group of Afghan women gathered in front of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul in a protest against the killing of Mahsa Amini by the moral guidance police. They expressed their support for the Iranian people’s nationwide uprising.

On the signs, which were carried by the female demonstrators, slogans such as: “Woman.. Life.. freedom”, and “the women of Iran and Afghanistan do not accept captivity”.

 

Women, who face severe restrictions under the Taliban regime, chanted slogans such as: “Iran has risen up.. “Death to the dictator, whether in Tehran or Kabul.”

Taliban forces dispersed the protests in front of the Iranian embassy by firing into the air.

Last year, a large number of women marched against the Taliban’s policies, one of the most prominent slogans being “Bread, Work, Freedom”.

The Taliban have imposed the compulsory veil in Afghanistan, and even banned women whose hijab does not meet the Taliban’s wishes from entering universities.
