Yemen asks OIC to designate Houthis as terrorist organization
The Yemeni government on Saturday urged the Organization of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) to classify the Houthis as a “terrorist organization” following an attack by Houthi militias on the Dabba oil port in Hadhramaut.
Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad ben Moubarak spoke with Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Co-operation Hissein Brahim Taha by telephone.
The Yemeni minister called on the Organization of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) to adopt collective positions to classify Houthi militias as a terrorist organization to deter them from acts of violence and terrorism and to return to the option of peace.
Risks and Repercussions of Houthi Terrorist Attacks
Yemen’s Foreign Minister briefed the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the dangers and repercussions of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil installations in Hadhramaut and Shabwah provinces.
He called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to stand by the Yemeni government and condemn these terrorist acts that target the economic potential of the Yemeni people and undermine international efforts to end the war and achieve peace.
He referred to the catastrophic repercussions of these terrorist acts supported by the Iranian regime on ensuring the safety of energy supplies and transport, and on regional and international security and peace.
Houthi militia officially claimed responsibility for the attack
In a statement issued by its military unit, Houthi militias officially claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack that targeted the oil port of Dabba in Hadhramaut.
The Yemeni government announced that Houthi militias targeted the oil port of Dabba in Hadhramaut province with drones two days after they also targeted the port of Nashima in Shabwah province.
