Yemen: Houthi drones shot down in Marib and Hodeidah
“Joint Yemeni forces on Saturday succeeded in bringing down two Houthi rallies in Marib and Hodeida governorates, east and west of the country.”
Yemeni military sources said that the Southern Giants Brigades, one of the joint forces, managed to shoot down a Houthi militia drone in the Harib district in southern Marib province.
According to the sources, the Houthi aircraft tried to attack civilian and military targets in Harib district before it was intercepted and shot down with the appropriate weapon.
On the west coast, sources confirmed that a Houthi militia spy plane was shot down over residential houses in Hays district in southern Hodeidah governorate, western Yemen.
According to the sources, units from the joint forces engaged the Houthi plane and shot it down as it approached the homes of citizens in the outskirts of Hays city.
Houthi militias have intensified their use of drones recently, with the Yemeni army and joint and southern forces dropping a number of “drones” bombs and espionage across the theater of operations in Marib, Hodeida, Taiz, Dhale, and Hajjah.
Yemeni forces are shooting down an average of one Houthi drone every two days, with the largest number of drones shootings of rebel militias in February 2022, when the Yemeni army dropped 10 Drones in Hajjah in a single day.
