Yemen: Houthis continue to breach truce, new militia defeat in Taiz
Yemeni National Army forces have thwarted a new treacherous attack launched by Houthi terrorist militias against their positions on the fronts of Taiz province.
The Yemeni army’s media center told Saba Net that army forces backed by the popular resistance repelled a large-scale offensive launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi rebel militia against military positions in the areas surrounding the central security camp and the presidential palace in eastern Taiz.
The center quoted a military source as saying that the attack lasted for more than two and a half hours, during which the Houthi militias suffered losses in materiel and lives, and were forced to retreat and flee.
Colonel Abdul Baset Al-Bahr, deputy director of moral guidance at the Taiz axis, said according to Yemen satellite channel that 15 armed crew members (vehicles) participated in the attack in Kulaba, Al-Safa and Al-Kamb. The battle resulted in the defeat of the Houthi militias and heavy losses, including 17 deaths and injuries, and the burning of an armed group in the Daqdeq region, and another group in the area near Al-Harir. He pointed out that the central artillery fire of the army forces resolved the battle, as well as the bravery and courage of the army soldiers who forced the militias to retreat and flee.
More recently, Houthi terrorist militias have stepped up attacks on the city of Taiz, in clear and deliberate violation of the UN truce.
About two weeks ago, Houthi terrorist militias launched a surprise attack on army positions in Taiz, drawing wide condemnation at the local level and international condemnation.
