Yemen – How does Houthi’s collaboration with the Brotherhood and al-Qaeda threaten regional stability?
The international community is in a state of anxiety because of the attempts of the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization to return to the Yemeni scene by committing crimes and terrorist acts, the most prominent of which was the attack launched by Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorists on a position of the Security Belt forces in the southern province of Abyan, which killed 21 Yemeni soldiers in the south.
Houthi and ISIS
The terrorist incident showed many things, most notably: the strong cooperation between the Houthi terrorist militia and Al-Qaeda, as confirmed by the Yemeni Ministers of Defense, Lieutenant General Mohsen Al-Da’eri, and Information Minister, Muammar Al-Eryani, that the terrorist attack that targeted a security point in the Yemeni Abyan region clearly indicates the close cooperation between the terrorist organizations Al-Qaeda and Houthi, and the field coordination between them to plan and carry out terrorist operations targeting the security services and damaging security and stability in Yemen. The Yemeni defense minister said the Yemeni military will not hesitate to confront and defeat terrorist organizations, adding that the attack will not be the reason for the armed forces’ failure to fight terrorist groups, pursue their members to their hideouts and cleanse Yemen of their futility.
Price of independence
Mansour Saleh, deputy head of the STC’s media department, described the sacrifices made by the southern armed forces as a natural price to achieve the aspirations of the southern people for freedom and independence. He said al-Qaeda’s terrorist attack on the security belt forces in Ahwar, Abyan province, was a natural and expected response from terrorist organizations and forces cooperating with them, such as the Muslim Brotherhood, to the Eastern Arrow campaign, which aims to cleanse Abyan of terrorist hotbeds.
Popular support
In the same context, Southern Tweeps considered that the war on terrorism has become an eye-opener for every southern Yemeni after the terrorist crime that targeted the security point of the Security Belt forces in Abyan province, by launching the hashtag of Arrows of the East to counter terrorism. They confirmed that the Southern Armed Forces continue to pursue the remnants of terrorists in the reefs and valleys in all parts of the south. They called for clearing all parts of the south of any stronghold of the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization in Abyan, in order to secure all citizens in the south.
Triad
Waddah bin Attiyah, a member of the Southern National Assembly, said the threats issued by Houthi leaders and the incitement of the Brotherhood’s foreign-funded media against the south and the Transitional Council are unacceptable. The international community and human rights organizations should take a position on this, he said, noting that the recent terrorist operation by al-Qaeda, which targeted a security unit in the south, confirms the strong relationship between al-Qaeda, the Brotherhood and Houthi.
Bin Attiyah added that the Brotherhood militias, in their plots against the south, are trying to provoke chaos and confusion at the military level, in an attempt to obstruct their efforts to achieve stability throughout the south. He pointed out that targeting Shabwah specifically in this plan represents a Muslim Brotherhood attempt to respond to the losses incurred by the organization in the province, after the southern armed forces managed to abort the armed Muslim Brotherhood insurgency in Shabwah. He pointed out that the Al-Qaeda terrorist attack on a security checkpoint for the security belt in Ahwar meant that the south would fight a proxy war for the region to defeat the terrorist organizations supported by the terrorist Brotherhood.
