Yemeni analyst uncovers Houthi crimes in Taiz, international demands to stop violations
The Houthi terrorist militia continues its violations and crimes in Yemen, with the continued imposition of a siege on the city of Taiz, continued looting and theft, and continued violations throughout the city.
Houthi siege continues
The Yemeni government warned of the continuation of the Houthi siege on Taiz and the refusal to implement the provisions of the UN truce, stressing that this leads to a catastrophic situation, calling for international pressure on the Houthis and their supporters.
Yemeni Minister Muammar Al-Eryani confirmed that the Houthis’ intransigence in lifting the siege on Taiz province, despite the government’s concessions on more than one issue, international calls, and popular pressure, confirms its imposition of a policy of collective punishment and systematic killing of the province’s residents.
Houthi abuses
According to Yemeni human rights reports, the number of civilian victims of Houthi shelling of Taiz province from 2015 to 2020 was 3,590, including 761 children, 347 women, 289 elderly people, and 13,736 wounded, including 3,155 children, 1,180 women and 764 elderly people.
Houthi crimes
Houthi crimes have not only been limited to this, says Ahmed Jabbari, a Yemeni political analyst: The Houthi militia has committed the most heinous crimes against citizens and carried out numerous violations against Yemen’s institutions.
The Yemeni political analyst added that there are calls and movements by Yemeni organizations and human rights institutions to act to stop the massacres of Houthi militias against civilians in Taiz, pointing out that Taiz province has the highest number of civilian casualties as a result of deliberate bombing by Houthi militias.
Taiz, in southwest Yemen, is the third largest city in the country, besieged by Houthi militias for nearly three years, has been subject to bombardment and its population is suffering from dire humanitarian conditions.
