Yemeni army records 1,707 Houthi violations of UN truce in 23 days

The Yemeni army announced on Saturday that it recorded 1,707 violations of the UN truce by Houthi militias within 23 days on seven main fronts.

Yemeni army spokesman Brig. Gen. Abdo al-Majli said Houthi militias continue to violate the truce on all fronts and pivots as part of Iran’s expansionist project to reject peace.

In a press statement, Majali said on Saturday that Houthi militias committed 1,707 violations of the truce within 23 days in fronts in the provinces of Marib, Taiz, al-Jawf, Hajjah, Dhale and Hodeidah.

On the frontlines of Marib province, Houthi militias committed 223 breaches of the truce in the areas of al-Amud, al-Aref, al-Radha, al-Faliha, Um Risha, Wadi Thana, Raghwan, al-Mukhadra, al-Mashjah, and Sirwah.

In Taiz province, 836 truce violations were committed on the eastern, western and north-western fronts, and the UN truce in Hajjah was violated, with an average of 245 truce violations on the Abs and Haradh fronts.

The remaining violations were distributed to Hodeidah with an average of 338 violations, Al-Dali governorate with 22 violations, and al-Jawf front with 43 violations of the truce on a main front.

The Yemeni army spokesman said Houthi militias are continuing their escalation against civilians and civilian objects by firing rockets and explosive drones, planting mines that have killed and injured many civilians, and causing material damage to residential buildings and structures.

He said Houthi militias continue to recruit children through the so-called summer centers and drag them into battle, continue the siege and block roads in Taiz, all of which confirm the intransigence of Houthi militias and their rejection of the UN truce.

The internationally recognized government says Houthi’s violations are a negative sign that does not encourage the continuation of the truce, which was extended by two more months on June 2.

The Houthis are racing to exploit the humanitarian truce to mobilize fighters, organize their military ranks, and modernize their arsenal by evading a new round of war, according to Yemeni experts.
