Yemeni army reports 288 Houthi violations of truce in 3 days

The Yemeni army has documented 288 violations of the UN truce by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia over the past three days.

In a statement issued by the Yemeni army, saying that Houthi militia violations killed four of its soldiers and injured 17 others.

It added that Houthi militias committed 288 breaches of the UN truce between June 14 and 16 on various fronts.

On the western coast of Yemen, violations topped the list with an average of 80 violations of the truce, with the remaining violations taking place on the Taiz, Hajja, Marib, al-Barah axis west of Taiz, and the governorates of al-Jawf and Dhale.

The army said it thwarted a series of Houthi ground attacks, mostly targeting important military sites on west of Marib.

The other violations included firing heavy and medium weapons and car bombs at army positions on all fronts, the statement said.

The Yemeni army said Houthi militias are continuing to build artillery positions and bring in reinforcements and combat materiel, including Katyusha launchers, to various fronts, most of which are concentrated on the western and southern fronts of Marib

The Yemeni government says al-Houthi’s violations are negative indicators that do not encourage the continuation of the truce, which was extended by two more months on June 2.

The Houthi militias are racing to exploit the truce to mobilize their fighters, organize their military ranks, and modernize their weapons arsenal through smuggling in preparation for a new round of war, experts said.
