Yemeni government: Iran is responsible for Houthi military attack escalation


The internationally-recognized government in Yemen is accusing Iran about the Houthi military attack increasing and undermining peacemaking efforts in the war-ravaged country. Houthis were also criticized for trafficking arms and working in service to foreign agenda.

Indeed, pro-government forces interrupting and blocking Houthi attacks in the governorates of Marib and Jawf. This actually came as Yemeni army troops increasing their military operations in the southwestern governorate of Taiz.

Moreover, Military media stated that Houthis suffering from heavy losses on multiple combats. Yemeni Information Minister Muammar Al-Eryani said that the continued escalations of the Houthi militia in Marib coincided with the escalation of its extremist attacks on civilians in Saudi Arabia, indicating that the movement is using Iran-made ballistic missiles and drones.

Eryani also affirmed that Houthis keep trafficking Iranian weapons, adding that that the Iranian-backed militia is used as a tool to destabilize the security and stability of Yemen and countries of the region.

The minister also stated that the attacks confirmed that the Iranian regime’s continued to undermine efforts for ending the war and reach peace to the country. He also said that the extremist assaults demonstrate the Houthis’ misunderstanding of the language of peace.

Eryani also indicated that they only mastered killing and destruction, affirming that Houthi militias are just a cheap tool for executing an Iranian agenda. Besides, Iranian experts keep influencing political and military decisions taken by Houthis.

Yemeni Information Minister also said that the continued silence of the international community towards the militia that is killing Yemenis and employing child soldiers surprised him, and he appealed the international community to act for supporting government efforts to reestablish power to legitimate state institutions in Yemen.

Furtehrmore, in Taiz the pro-government forces that is supported by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition, pushed Houthi militants out of large places of the governorate’s western territory.

Otherwise, Yemeni army forces succeeded to control new sites in the Maqbana district. It also displaced hundreds of soldiers from the governorates of Abyan, Shabwa, and Lahij to Marib, where Houthis are conducting a military campaign to control the oil-rich governorate.
