Yemeni government Report about Houthi terrorist ties to UNSC

Yemen’s internationally-recognized government presented an intelligence report to the UN Security Council showing that Iran-backed Houthi militia works closely with both al-Qaeda and ISIS to impose terrorism on the Yemeni people.

The report that contains 27-page and that Asharq Al-Awsat obtained a copy, indicated that many instances Houthis were involved with terrorist organizations. In fact, in one of the documented cases, Houthis released 252 sentenced terrorists who were imprisoned in the national and political security prisons of Sanaa and other governorates. Certain of those liberated are the organizers of violence and assaults that targeted US and foreign interests.

The government stated in the report: This report, which is based on confirmed intelligence information and facts, sheds light on the close relationship between the Houthi militia and both al-Qaeda and ISIS, which is an extension of the relationship between Iran and terrorist organizations. Furthermore, the report notes how Houthis are using their relationship with terrorist organizations to impose more terrorism on the Yemeni people, and stated that the Houthis manipulated and misused [the information] to build close relationships with both al-Qaeda and ISIS.

The Yemeni government said the Houthis and the terrorist organizations have been cooperating in various fields, including security and intelligence, providing a safe haven for many members of the terrorist organizations, coordinating combat operations against the legitimate forces, permitting the terrorist organizations to build and fortify their strongholds, while avoiding confrontations with them.

The report also showed that the Houthis liberated Jamal Mohammed al-Badawi, who is one of the terrorists behind the bombarding on the US Navy destroyer the USS Cole. It added that fifty-five al-Qaeda terrorists are now in Sanaa and other Houthi-controlled areas.

The report also contains testimonies of al-Qaeda members who were arrested by Yemen’s National Army Forces when they were struggling with the Houthi militia.

The report includes what Al-Qaeda member Musa Nassir Ali Hassan al-Salhani acknowledged the presence of al-Qaeda militants within the Houthi militia, and stated that the Iran-backed group deeply depends on the militants in Sanaa.

Besides, the Yemeni government stated that the Houthis and terrorist organizations prepare for coordinated criminal acts that threaten the security and stability of Yemen and the region, and also the international delivery lines.

Otherwise, the government appealed on the Security Council and the international community to stand against the terrorism practiced by these militias, and to support and agree the efforts exerted by the legitimate government and the National Army to end their battle against all aspects of organized terrorism by this Houthi militia against all Yemenis.
