165 People Drown and Go Missing in Shipwreck Off Mauritania

The International Organization for Migration announced on Wednesday that 15 people drowned in a shipwreck off Mauritania, while more than 150 people are still missing, according to Reuters.

In early July, 89 migrants died and dozens more went missing when their boat sank off the coast of Mauritania while they were en route to Europe, according to official sources.

The official Mauritanian news agency reported that the Mauritanian coast guard managed to “recover the bodies of 89 illegal migrants who were on board a large traditional fishing boat”.
