Houthi terrorist militias violate freedom of the press – Details

Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, condemned in the strongest terms the kidnapping of journalist Nadia Muqbil from one of the streets of the capital, Sana’a, by the Iranian Houthi terrorist militia. Al-Eryani was preparing a field press report on the rise in food prices during the month of Ramadan and the forced disappearance of her since March 28‏.

In a press statement reported by the official Saba news agency, Muammar Al-Eryani said that this heinous crime is an extension of the series of attacks by the Houthi terrorist militia against journalists in areas under their control. He added that the terrorist militia’s policy of suppression and suppression of voices is aimed at hiding facts from the public opinion, and it is a violation of customs and traditions that criminalize the harming of Yemeni women, whatever the circumstances and justifications.

Al-Eryani called on the international community, the United Nations, UN and US envoys, human rights organizations, and the protection of journalists and women to condemn this heinous crime, and to put real pressure on the Houthi militia to release Nadia Muqbil and all journalists and women who are being forcibly disappeared without conditions in their detention.

Yemeni journalist Nadia Muqbil is spending her 27th day in Houthi militia detention without charge.

Independent journalist Nadia Muqbil was on a mission to prepare a report on the high prices with the start of the month of Ramadan in Sanaa for a local news platform. She was caught by security patrols from the so-called Houthi Interior.

According to Yemeni media and human rights sources, Houthi militias detained journalist Nadia in the security detention of Haziz in Sanaa, before transferring her two days after her abduction to another detention facility.

Houthi militias confiscated Nadia’s phones and refused to allow her to communicate with her family for days. They continue to refuse to release her despite an appeal by the journalist’s family and human rights organizations to the so-called “Interior Minister of the Houthi militias”, Abd al-Karim al-Houthi.
