New Emirati support for thousands of Sudanese… The latest assistance provided
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has sent an aid ship to Sudan carrying 1,000 tons of supplies and food.
The ship, which will provide food and relief aid as emergency support to Sudanese refugees affected by the current circumstances in the country, which caused the displacement of thousands of families, and the lack of basic food items, arrived in Port Sudan yesterday, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
The ship’s dispatch comes within the framework of the continuous relief efforts of the UAE in support of the brotherly Sudanese people and the embodiment of its humanitarian vision. The UAE is one of the first countries to send direct aid to Sudan, which has witnessed clashes since mid-April, within the framework of its continuous keenness to provide support to the brothers and contribute to alleviating the humanitarian repercussions facing the Sudanese as a result of the current crisis.
The UAE provided more than 540 tons of food supplies and emergency medical supplies via four planes, bringing the total aid to 1,540 tons.
The UAE recently sent nine planes to evacuate 997 citizens from a number of countries, as part of its humanitarian efforts and commitment to strengthening international cooperation and solidarity, continuing its humanitarian approach based on providing protection to civilians, and extending a helping hand to countries in times of need.
The UAE continues to provide hosting services to nationals of about 26 nationalities who were evacuated by air during their stay in the country until their return to their home countries.
Since 15 April, fighting between the Sudanese Army led by Abdul Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Daglo (Hemeti) has broken out in the capital Khartoum and other Sudanese cities.
