Disappearance: Journalist and geopolitician Alexandre Adler died at 72

The former ‘Point’ collaborator died at the age of 72 at the Georges-Pompidou European Hospital in Paris. The cause of his death is not yet known.

Journalist and historian Alexandre Adler, a specialist in international relations, the former USSR and the Middle East, died on Tuesday at 72 years old, his wife, philosopher Blandine Kriegel, told Agence France-Presse (AFP). He died at the Georges-Pompidou European Hospital in Paris. The journalist was currently working on a “near-completed geopolitical treaty,” according to Blandine Kriegel, who was joined by AFP.

Winner of the 2003 political book award for his bestseller released the year before, I saw the old world end, on the consequences of the attacks of September 11, Alexandre Adler had also won the Mumm Foundation award for his Notebooks in Courrier International in 1999.

A visionary scholar

He worked for 10 years at Libération (1982-1992), then at the Courrier international where he was editor-in-chief and then editorial director (1992-2002), and was also five years at Le Monde as adviser to Jean-Marie Colombani, then director of the newspaper.
