Using the phone for less than two hours daily protects you from a ‘bundle of diseases’
A recent study has concluded that using the phone for less than two hours a day may reduce the risk of mental health problems.
The study, conducted by experts from Hanyang University in South Korea, found that individuals aged 13 to 18 who spent less than two hours a day browsing their mobile phones had lower chances of experiencing stress, depression, and sleep problems. Additionally, they were less likely to entertain suicidal thoughts and be addicted to alcohol.
Specifically, the percentage of experiencing stress in this group was 30%, and the chances of experiencing poor sleep were 27%.
The addiction rate to alcohol in this group was 47%, and the suicide exposure rate was 43%.
These results highlight the benefits individuals gain from using mobile phones for a short period.
On the contrary, the study found that the aforementioned negative symptoms increase when exposure to mobile phones ranges from 4 to 6 hours daily.
