Doctor warns of “refreshing” drink: serious impact on teeth

To maintain the brightness of teeth, individuals should pay attention to the quality of food and drinks they consume.

Although attention is usually directed towards popular drinks such as tea and coffee, there are other beverages that can harm teeth and contribute to greater discoloration.

In this context, dentist Khaled Qasim pointed out that drinking lemon water, despite its known benefits in delaying signs of aging and boosting immunity, can cause serious damage to teeth.

Qasim explained that extreme caution should be exercised when consuming lemon water, as despite being refreshing, it contains high acidity capable of causing enamel erosion.

The doctor noted that lemon juice, despite its potential benefits, is characterized by high acidity, which can lead to enamel damage and make teeth susceptible to gum-related diseases and cavities over time.

Although a medical report in 2019 highlighted the anti-aging benefits of lemon water and its ability to support the immune system, the warning about its acidic impact on teeth remains an important consideration.

Therefore, it is advised to avoid frequent consumption of lemon water and stay away from it if any signs of mouth ulcers appear to avoid potential irritation and inflammation.
