Germany Prepares for a World War… “Protective Trenches” Linked to an Electronic “Fingerprint”

Tensions are rising across Europe, with several countries on high alert over fears that the conflict in Ukraine could escalate into a global war.

In this context, Germany’s Interior Ministry has announced that it is compiling a list of fortified shelters that could provide emergency refuge for civilians in the event of heightened tensions with Russia.

A ministry spokesperson explained that the list will include underground train stations, parking garages, government buildings, and private properties.

Under the government’s plan, a digital guide to fortified and emergency shelters will be developed, enabling people to locate them quickly using a mobile app.
Citizens will also be encouraged to create protective shelters in their homes by converting basements and garages into safe havens.

The government has declined to set a timeline for the plan’s implementation, citing its scale and complexity. The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance, along with other authorities, will be involved.

The country, home to 84 million people, currently has 579 shelters, most dating back to World War II and the Cold War, capable of accommodating 480,000 individuals. Previously, there were around 2,000 shelters.

Germany is historically known for its trenches, including the bunker in Berlin from which Nazi leader Adolf Hitler directed the war before committing suicide there.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, concerns have grown over Moscow’s potential ability to target other NATO members.

In October, German intelligence leaders warned that Russia might be capable of launching an attack on the military alliance by 2030.

According to the British newspaper The Guardian, German officials claim the country is already experiencing a sharp rise in Russian espionage and sabotage activities, allegations denied by Moscow.

Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the conflict in Ukraine bears the characteristics of a “global” war and did not rule out striking Western countries.
