ISIS Prisons under Al-Joulani’s Control… Warnings Issued

The agreement reached between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Al-Joulani’s government (Ahmad Al-Shara’a) regarding the transfer of ISIS prison management to the authorities of Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham has sparked significant reactions.

Security analyst Adnan Al-Kinani warned about the dangers of this agreement, emphasizing that handing over control of prisons holding ISIS members in northern Syria to Al-Joulani’s administration poses a direct threat to regional security.

In a statement reported by Al-Maalouma, Al-Kinani explained that these prisons house some of the most dangerous ISIS leaders, who were involved in terrorist operations in Iraq and Syria.

He added that “groups affiliated with Al-Joulani harbor deep hostility towards Iraq due to the victories achieved by Iraqi forces against terrorism.”

He stressed the need for Iraq to “remain vigilant in light of these developments,” warning that “the release or escape of these individuals could allow ISIS to re-emerge, threatening the region’s stability.”

Meanwhile, former MP Abdel Hadi Al-Sa’dawi also warned against transferring the management of ISIS prisons from the SDF to Al-Joulani’s government, stressing that this move represents a serious threat to the country’s security.

Additionally, analysts said that Al-Joulani has always aspired to take control of prisons housing ISIS members, either to recruit them into his ranks or to use them as bargaining chips in negotiations with the terrorist group.
