To escape from their criminal acts… Libya’s Muslim Brotherhood smears the clothing of “Revival and Renewal” association
In preparation for the elections... the Libyan Brothers change their skin and turn to the society
In an apparent move to evade the bad reputation they have enjoyed over the years, the Muslim Brotherhood, present in Libya under the name of justice and construction, decided about two months ago to disband and transform itself into an association in the name of revival and renewal, claiming that the reason for this change was an intensification of efforts to prepare for the presidential elections scheduled for next December.
The group said in its statement that in the 10 years since the overthrow of Colonel Mouammar Kadhafi, it has been subjected to mutilation and forgery in order to exclude it from its society and spread the shadows of doubt about its noble goals.
This decision comes in preparation for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections, so how will the Muslim Brotherhood’s ideological thinking be transformed from a group to an association, and all the fear that it will later claim to be a charitable organization working for the benefit of Libya and Libyans, if the cultural conviction it spoke about in its statement fails.
The approach and actions of the Muslim Brotherhood, from which al-Qaeda and ISIS originated, simply reveal the aims of this external change in the name. A number of political analysts believe that the group’s name has become a burden after being designated in most Arab countries as a terrorist group, and that the group seeks to undermine its cloak and claim its adherence to their Libyan identity. This step is a maneuver by the Muslim Brotherhood to prove its existence, with the aim of manipulating people’s minds and reaching its goals with international support.
It is no secret that the Muslim Brotherhood organization has been in existence since its inception. It follows a policy of painting according to political and social considerations in the environment that embraces it. This was confirmed by a member of the Assembly himself. Omar Al-Wahishi, a board member of the Revival and Renewal Association, categorically denied dissolving the group and said that the move was a mere formality while maintaining the group’s beliefs within the group.
Finally, one of the reasons the Muslim Brotherhood in Libya changed its dress is to avoid internal and external pressures, especially after the crackdown on them in Turkey, which is considered the biggest supporter of the Brotherhood’s ideology, and the rapprochement that took place and is developing between Ankara and Cairo.
The President of the Libyan Media Foundation, Mohamed Omar Baai, criticized the statement of the Muslim Brotherhood in Libya on what he described as the threat of the Wakfs Authority. In a post he posted on his personal account on Facebook, he said : Did not the Muslim Brotherhood in Libya announce its dissolution a month ago and transform it into a civil society organization called the Revival and Renewal Association? And here it is publishing yesterday in the name of the disbanded group a statement of threat against the Religious Endowments Authority, and disavows its party and parties, and threatens its violators.
Libya was one of the first countries where Muslim Brotherhood ideology became widespread in the 1940s when three Egyptians affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood sought refuge in the country. They accused Libya of assassinating the then Egyptian Minister of the Interior Mahmoud Fahmi al-Naqrashi and began spreading the group’s ideology there.
