What’s the story behind the Expo 2020 logo?
The journey of “Expo 2020” started in the United Arab Emirates, especially Dubai, and has so far succeeded in impressing everyone, after writing only the lines of the first chapter of the exhibition, which runs until March next year.
The United Arab Emirates has launched the slogan of Expo 2020 with a message reflecting its goals of “Connecting minds, creating future”, the most important purpose for which more than 190 countries gathered at this global event.
Design secret
In 2002, a team of scientists led by Deputy Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed ben Rachid Al Maktoum carried out an archeological excavation in the Al Marmoom area of Dubai. Among the artifacts they obtained was a rare piece of gold.
This piece of gold is the reason behind the shape of the design of the Expo 2020 logo. It was also used to design the logo of the Saruq Al-Hadid Museum, which is the first museum in a series of new museums that will turn the historic district of Dubai into a cultural area.
Al-Wasl Square
The main meeting point for visitors to this international event is Al-Wasl Square, which is covered by a 65-meter-high roof consisting of a dome with a design inspired by the slogan “Expo 2020”.
The dome was designed transparently so it could be converted to a giant 360-degree display; to be the largest of its kind in the world, according to the official website “Expo 2020”.
