Oman congratulates UAE on hosting COP 28, asserts it is an important win for the region
The Sultanate of Oman on Friday extended its congratulations to the United Arab Emirates on its victory in hosting the COP 28 climate conference, with Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi saying: My sincere congratulations to our brothers in the United Arab Emirates for winning the bid to host the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in 2023.
In a tweet posted on the official Twitter account of the Foreign Ministry, Al Busaidi said that the UAE victory is a new gain and an important global highlight for our region.
On Thursday, the Secretariat-General of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change officially announced that the United Arab Emirates will host the 28th session of the COP 28 in 2023, which is considered the most important and largest international climate action conference with the participation of world leaders.
The announcement came at the end of an intense two-week event attended by nearly 200 countries to take joint action to end greenhouse gas emissions globally and to unite efforts to reduce the fallout from climate change.

The United Arab Emirates had received the support of the Asia-Pacific Group to host the 2023 session of the Conference of the Parties.
The UAE’s winning bid to host the conference won international acclaim, officials said, adding that it was the result of the UAE’s strong standing at all Arab, regional and international levels and a global medal for leadership on climate issues.
