Al-Jazeera said: “It is backing away from the news of Sedat Peker’s arrest after failing to find confirmation”, Turkish newspaper Zaman reported.
Al-Jazeera also reports: “The UAE authorities have released Mehmet Ali Ozturk, a Turkish businessman who has been detained in its prisons for years”.
“Most recently, Ersan Barkin, the lawyer for Turkish mafia leader Sedat Peker, said he was unable to communicate with his client in the UAE”.
On November 12, Sedat Peker tweeted that a number of friends had made phone calls to him informing him that the Turkish authorities had decided to target him, adding: “The tale that he thinks is over forever will start over”.
After targeting a number of current and former officials of the ruling Justice and Development Party regime, including Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, Sedat hinted that Erdogan would be among the targets.
Sedat Peker recently made a name for himself in a series of videos on YouTube and Twitter in which he exposed the involvement of a number of Turkish officials in corruption, drug, prostitution and murder.
