Iran mired in crisis and the Iranian toman collapse

100 days after the government of hard-line President Ebrahim Raisi took office in Iran, Persia has been plunged into severe economic, social, and living crises, amidst the almost certain expectations of the failure of the Iranian nuclear agreement with the Western countries, on which the Iranians were greatly reliant to extricate themselves from the sanctions that destroyed their economy.

Inflation and Pandemic

Despite Raisi’s claims on Iranian television that his government had controlled inflation and the coronavirus pandemic, the reality and the collapse of the Iranian stock price were scandalous and revealing of the reality of the deteriorating situation in Iran.

On Sunday, the Ministry of Co-operation, Labor and Social Welfare issued a statement warning that the average price of 83% of food has become “more than crisis level”.

Due to the conflict between the Iranian reality and Ebrahim Raisi’s statements, Hamedli asked about the government’s costs due to the many visits Raisi made to the provinces, and the issue was titled “The First 100 Days Costs”, referring to the disasters that besiege Iran.

Deadlock

While the negotiations on the Iranian nuclear agreement, which have reached a deadlock, occupy the majority of the Iranian press, and despite the attempts of the Iranian government newspapers to hold the West responsible for the failure of the negotiations, they all recognize the failure of the negotiations, which foreshadow a difficult future in Iran.

The Islamic Republican newspaper admitted that nuclear negotiations had returned to square one. Rozkar Economics wrote: “The nuclear deal is at a crossroads.. Revival or collapse?,” Iran International reported.

The collapse of the Iranian currency

A number of newspapers pointed to the effect of the rise in the price of the dollar and hard currencies on the Iranian market after the dollar exceeded 30,000 tomans, breaking a record in the last Iranian year.

Iranian reports have pointed to the coronavirus pandemic crisis and Iran’s new strain, pointing to the country’s pharmaceutical mafia, which may want the new strain of the pandemic to spread in the country to reap more profits and gains, according to the newspaper.

Economic problems

Iranian reports indicate that 90% of people’s problems in the country are economic and living, adding: “If the government really wants to do something, it’s better to focus on international engagement with the world so that we don’t see a dollar appreciation every day”.

Newspapers reported that the commencement of enrichment at the Fordo nuclear site in recent days was an unprecedented step, and 90% enrichment is now only awaiting the Supreme Leader’s decision.
