Turkish police detained 99 people on charges of belonging to the Fethullah Gülen group

Turkish authorities announced on Tuesday the arrest of 99 people on charges of belonging to the Fethullah Gülen group, which is classified as a terrorist organization by Ankara.

The source said that the arrest was made by a decision issued by the Attorney General’s Office in the capital Ankara, and it included 40 states all over the country, including the capital.

The newspaper said the wanted individuals include 34 private sector employees and 65 public sector employees who were dismissed from their jobs.

They are accused of infiltrating various state agencies, including the intelligence service, the gendarmerie, security directorates, and working for the Gülen group.

Ankara accuses the terrorist group of Fethullah Gülen, a preacher, of masterminding the July 2016 coup attempt.

Since the coup attempt nearly six years ago, the Turkish authorities have pursued elements of this group, both inside and outside the country.
