A climber risks his life to climb a giant tower without ropes

Amid great anticipation and fear, South Koreans are holding their breath, watching a man climb up the country’s tallest tower without protective wire.

The adventure ended in peace, with authorities capturing a man who tried to climb the world’s fifth tallest tower without ropes while he was in the middle of his “dangerous operation” in Seoul, Korea.

The 24-year-old was forced to stop trying to climb Monday when authorities intercepted him on the 73rd floor of the 123-story World Tour Tower.

Wearing short trousers, the climber had been making his way up the top of South Korea’s skyscraper for more than an hour, as police and firefighters gathered on the ground below.

A fire department official said the man was detained for questioning.

In 2018, the “French Spider-Man” Alain Robert was arrested by police when he was halfway over the Lotte World Tower.

Climbers without ropes have regularly tried to climb some of the world’s tallest or most iconic buildings in recent years.
