A new massacre in Darfur: army drones kill 12 civilians, including 6 children.
Twelve civilians, including six children, were killed in a drone strike targeting the town of Kutum, which is under the control of the Rapid Support Forces, in North Darfur, Sudan.
A medical source told Agence France-Presse on Thursday that 12 bodies were brought to the town’s hospital, including six children, three of whom were secondary school students.
Sixteen others, including women and children, were also injured and are receiving treatment.
The “Resistance Committee of Al-Fashir” said the strike, carried out on Wednesday, targeted the Al-Salama neighborhood near the Al-Oum Girls’ School, placing responsibility for the attack on the Sudanese army, which has been at war with the Rapid Support Forces since April 2023.
For his part, Sudanese “Somoud” alliance leader Khalid Omar Youssef wrote on his account on X: “The air force of the armed forces carried out a criminal attack last night (Wednesday) that struck a wedding ceremony in the Al-Salama neighborhood of the town of Kutum in North Darfur, claiming a number of innocent civilian victims, especially women and children.”
He attached a video to his post, saying it “documents this incident, about which silence would be a disgrace beyond disgrace.”
He added: “This war, ignited by the Islamist movement (the terrorist arm of the Muslim Brotherhood) and sustained over time, has crossed all red lines in its criminality, and it will lead to the fragmentation of the country and threaten peace and security in Sudan and its regional and international environment.”
He continued: “These crimes must stop immediately, and everyone who has shed the blood of innocents without mercy or compassion must be held accountable.”
