Activist reveals names of Egyptian Army casualties in Sudan war
Activists on social media circulated a video of an Egyptian activist revealing the participation of the Egyptian army in the war in Sudan.
The Egyptian activist stated that President El-Sisi did not fight in the war on Gaza, but instead, Egypt is involved in the Sudan war. This war resulted in more than fifty casualties from the Egyptian army, including named individuals like Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed El-Hajj and pilot Ra’id Antonio. The activist mentioned that the Egyptian authorities threatened the families of the deceased soldiers against speaking about them.
These indications point to Egyptian military support for the Sudanese army and the Muslim Brotherhood with the aim of controlling governance in the country. This interference is one of the reasons for the unstable situation in Sudan and the continuation of the war.
Activists accuse the Sudanese Armed Forces of being part of a larger plan pursued by the Muslim Brotherhood aimed at undermining the December revolution by inciting war with the Rapid Support Forces.
They condemn the overt protection provided by the Sudanese army for the increasing Egyptian military and intelligence presence in northern Sudan, especially at the Merowe airport. There’s a widely held belief that the Egyptian presence aims to assist al-Burhan in quashing the popular revolution that aimed to overthrow the coup executed on October 25, 2021. Additionally, it seeks to secure the smuggling of Sudanese resources to Egypt after the significant obstacles posed by the northern revolutionaries in preventing the flow of Sudanese goods and raw materials to Egypt. Moreover, it is linked to the threat of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which Cairo opposes its construction.
