After Hints of a Conspiracy… a Gesture of Goodwill from Trump to Putin and Xi

U.S. President Donald Trump extended a call for rapprochement to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, following remarks suggesting they were conspiring against his country.

Trump stated that he would be pleased to have the Russian and Chinese presidents participate in the 2026 G20 summit in the United States.

The Republican president, who met with Putin last month in Alaska, announced that the G20 summit would take place at his private resort, Trump Doral, in Miami, Florida, in the southeastern United States.

Trump said: “I am pleased to announce that the 2026 G20 summit will be held in one of our country’s greatest cities, the beautiful Miami, Florida.”

Conspiracy Allegations

Earlier, Trump commented on a military parade held Wednesday in Beijing, attended by the leaders of China, Russia, and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un, hinting at a conspiracy against the United States.

The military parade, considered the largest political event of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s third term, took place at Tiananmen Square in Beijing.

Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social: “I wish President Xi and the great people of China a wonderful day of celebrations. Please convey my regards to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un while you conspire against the United States.”

He added: “The key question that needs to be answered is whether President Xi will mention the massive support and bloodshed the United States provided to help China gain its freedom from a foreign occupier.”

Moscow’s Response

Moscow reacted to Trump’s remarks. Yuri Ushakov, Kremlin foreign policy advisor, issued a calm but firm statement, describing Trump’s words as “possibly humorous.”

Ushakov stated: “I want to emphasize that there is no conspiracy, no one is conspiring against anyone, and there are simply no conspiracies. This idea has never crossed the minds of any of the three leaders.”

G20 Summit in South Africa

Meanwhile, Trump confirmed that he would not attend the upcoming G20 summit in November in South Africa, a country he accuses of persecuting white people.

Trump indicated that his vice president, J.D. Vance, would represent the United States at the summit, which brings together the heads of state and government of the G20 member countries.

Sanctions

Trump was speaking during the signing of an executive order authorizing sanctions against countries he accused of complicity in the “illegal” detention of Americans.

According to senior officials in the Trump administration, “countries that have previously engaged in hostage diplomacy include China, Iran, and Afghanistan,” Reuters reported.

They added: “Sanctions could include export restrictions and the expulsion of officials responsible for detentions from the United States.”
