After the war, who will govern Gaza? Hamas clarifies its position on the presence of foreign or Arab forces in the administration of the sector

Hamas refuses to involve international or Arab forces in the administration of Gaza, according to statements by the head of the movement’s external affairs, Khaled Mashal. This comes in response to recent discussions about governance in Gaza after the war.

Mashal indicated that those proposing these plans should “discuss the post-Israel situation in the region”. He stated, “Some Western politicians are discussing Gaza post-Hamas, and I say to them, save your time, imagination, and dreams, and you should discuss the situation in the region after Israel in the coming years, God willing.”

He added, “We reject the participation of any international or Arab forces in the administration of Gaza, and all these plans will be thwarted by our heroes in the resistance, led by our victorious Al-Qassam Brigades,” as reported by Gulf Online.

Mashal addressed the detainees who fell into the hands of the resistance, saying, ‘’On the first day, we expressed readiness to release the civilians being held because the goals of the battle did not include taking them. However, the circumstances of the battle after the collapse of the Gaza Brigade, affiliated with the occupation, led to that, and we released a number of detainees’’.

He added, “When we saw the brutality of the terrorist aggression, we said we must manage this card to serve the civilians in Gaza and alleviate their suffering,” noting that “the ceasefire achieves the release of children and women from the prisons of the Zionist occupation, a temporary cessation of aggression, and humanitarian relief for Gaza”.

The temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect yesterday morning and will last for (4) days. The temporary humanitarian ceasefire agreement includes the release of (50) Israeli prisoners from Gaza, in exchange for the release of (150) Palestinians from Israeli prisons.

Despite (47) days since the start of the war in the sector and the emergence of the supportive American vision for the return of the Palestinian Authority, rejecting its reoccupation by the Israeli army, the future governance in Gaza remains uncertain, with the possible return of Hamas to power.
