“Al-Hasakah Girl”… a horrible crime under the pretext of “honor”
The “honor” shooting of a Syrian girl and a minor in Al-Hasakah province has caused a social media sensation.
On social media, activists circulated horrific video footage of a young Syrian girl shot dead in Al-Hasakah province.
The video showed a Syrian family members brutally shooting the girl to death, taking her to an abandoned house and shooting her in the head.
The Center for Research and Protection of Women’s Rights in Syria issued a statement condemning the killing of a minor in al-Hasakeh province and demanding the harshest penalties against the defendants, according to local media.
The center said: “We condemn and denounce the murder of the underage girl (G.H.) from the Zohour neighborhood of Geweran in Al-Hasakah, all of whose features appear in the video that has been posted on social media.”
The center called on “security authorities to arrest the perpetrators, convict them according to the law, and impose severe penalties on them”.
He added: “We are making personal claims against anyone who has anything to do with the commission of this heinous crime.”
